John Summers married Ann Hards in 1824

Summers: This ancient surname derives from the Old French "somier" meaning a "sumpter", a term describing one who drove pack horses or mules.
The name is first recorded in Scotland towards the end of the 12th Century (see below), but in fact is equally at home in England, being an introduction by the Norman Invaders after 1066. The name in its many forms is widespread throughout the United Kingdom and these spellings include Symmers, Symers, Simmers, and Somers as well as Sumer, Sumers, Sunter, Sumpter and Summers.

Extracts from Nancy (Ross) Summers correspondence ...
John Summers married Ann Harde ( or Hards, there may be different spellings of Ann's name).
The marriage took place in Bermondsey. John and Ann lived in Seven Oaks, Kent. (Could be Ivy Hatch)

Extract from an e-mail – Hards Family Society
... Meanwhile I am referring the details to one of our members with a particular interest in the Hardres of Upper Hardres at Hardres Court, to which "Ann Harde of Harde Court, Kent" could well refer.
(Incidentally, from what you tell me it looks as if age 58 could have been a misreading of age 88 for Ann Summers née Harde.)
Our Register extract files list only Hards and its variations. Various Hards in the past seem to have believed themselves as connected with the Hardres Court family, but their claims have to be treated with some reserve. On the other hand our register extracts do include:
A0745 Ann Hards baptised 31 Aug 1800 at Ightham, Kent; parents Sarah & Robert Hards.
L0250 Ann Hards married John Sumners at St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey on 19 Oct 1824.

We have not yet made any connection between these events and any other data.
The Hardres of Upper Hardres (a few miles south of Canterbury) are set out on our Chart 23,
a sketchy succession from 1080 to 1536 from which date it becomes a more positive family tree
through seven generations to Sir William Hardres, the fifth baronet who died in 1764.
With him the Hardres line and the baronetcy died out. So we should like to know of any
possible descendants with some form of Hards name.
